Shrimp Toast Cooking Class

In this cooking class in Portland, Maine you will learn how to make one of my favorite recipes. This class is all about Chinese Shrimp Toast! We’ll meet at the Fork Food Lab and start with some snacks and get a brief introduction to tools and techniques. Then, we’ll dive right in, mixing our shrimp paste with Chinese sauces and scallions. Then we’ll get a glimpse into making milk bread with the tangzhong technique and we’ll practice assembling perfect shrimp toasts with sesame seeds. After the food is cooked, we’ll sit down together and eat our creations (with dessert) and take home a shrimp toast recipe card. Then, you can sign up for my accompanying watercolor painting class!

Cooking Class + Watercolor Food Painting
In our painting class we’ll spend 60-90 minutes learning how to draw and paint our shrimp toast recipe, which will help you gain a solid understanding of layering. We’ll start with an underpainting and progress into detail work. By the time we’re done, we’ll all know a thing or three about painting, not just cooking! You’ll go home with your very own painting and recipe so you can make shrimp toast time and time again. Each class is a new experience and builds your skills in both cooking and art.
It is my joy to connect with fellow food-lovers and curious souls who are eager to learn how to create. My passions for food and art have been inseparable for many years, and I’m proud to offer both hands on instruction in both cooking and painting! You won’t find a class like this anywhere else. From chicken caesar schnitzel to my family’s Hungarian chicken goulash, I can’t wait to share my food with you! Painting food is a great way to learn the basics of painting. Art and creativity is the root of so much joy. Thank you for checking out my art and cooking classes in Portland Maine.
